In 2019, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Capel Sound Foreshores Committee of Management and the Mornington Peninsula Shire entered into a long-term agreement where the Shire will provide community safety officers to patrol the beaches and reserve areas to ensure owners and their animals are in compliance with the regulations.
***The keeping of animals and pets of any kind on a campsite
is strictly prohibited.***
Visitors:
For visitors not camping with us, dogs are to be on a lead AT ALL TIMES including the beach, reserve areas and the bay trail. Dogs must be registered and the owners must carry waste bags to clean up after their dogs. From December 1st until February 1st, dogs are only permitted on the beach from 6:00pm to 10:00am. Fines will be issued for non-compliance with these regulations. This is in line with all other beaches on the Mornington Peninsula.
Risk to wildlife:
An unrestrained dog is likely to negatively impact the native wildlife and the environment
Some dogs may kill or injure wildlife
Dogs may disrupt the natural behavior of wildlife
Designated leash-free area:
Our closest designated leash-free area is between Shirlow Avenue and Daly Avenue. December - February regulations still apply here.
